Week 4 :
There's certain questions that we need to answer about
1.What is colour correction?

Color correction is a process used in photography, videography, and filmmaking to correct or adjust the colors and tones in an image or video. The goal is to ensure that the colors in the final output are as accurate and realistic as possible, and to create a consistent look and feel throughout the project.
Color correction involves adjusting various properties of the image or video, such as brightness, contrast, saturation, and hue. This can be done manually or with the help of specialized software tools. Color correction is often used to fix issues such as color casts, incorrect white balance, or poor lighting conditions, as well as to create a particular mood or atmosphere in the final output.

2.What is colour grading?

In filmmaking, photography, and video production, color grading is a post-production process used to improve and alter a project's visual style and mood. It includes changing the varieties, contrast, immersion, splendor, and different properties of a picture or video to make a particular look or style.

Typically, color grading entails making a series of creative choices that affect the project's overall tone and mood. A filmmaker, for instance, might decide to give a scene a warm, golden hue to evoke feelings of nostalgia or romance, or they might choose to desaturate the colors and add a blue tint to make the scene feel cold and uninspiring.

Specialized software tools like DaVinci Resolve, Adobe Premiere Pro, or Final Cut Pro can be used to color grade videos. Colorists with expertise collaborate with directors and cinematographers to establish a consistent aesthetic throughout the project. Although it can be time-consuming and complicated, this crucial step in the post-production process can significantly improve a film or video's visual impact and emotional resonance.

3.What is the differences between colour correction and colour grading?

A technical process known as color correction is used to make sure that an image or video's colors and tones are as accurate and consistent as possible. The objective is to achieve a natural and realistic appearance while also addressing issues like color casts, improper white balance, and insufficient lighting. Adjusting properties like brightness, contrast, saturation, and hue are all part of color correction.

On the other hand, color grading is a creative process that is used to change a project's visual style and mood. The objective is to develop a particular style or look that remains consistent throughout the project. Color grading is the creative adjustment of an image or video's colors, contrast, saturation, brightness, and other properties. It can include adding variety colors, making variety contrast, and changing the variety equilibrium of the picture or video.

In a nutshell, while color grading is a creative process that enhances and alters the visual style and mood of a project, color correction is a technical process that corrects an image or video's colors and tones. The two cycles are significant pieces of after creation, and talented experts utilize a blend of specialized and innovative abilities to accomplish the ideal outcomes.

4.Are both colour correction and colour grading necessary while editing video? Or just do one of them?

Both color correction and color grading are important processes in video editing, but whether or not you need to do both depends on the specific needs of your project.

Color correction is generally considered a necessary step in the post-production process, as it ensures that the colors and tones of your footage are accurate, consistent, and natural-looking. If your footage has issues such as color casts, incorrect white balance, or poor lighting conditions, color correction can help to correct these issues and improve the overall quality of your video.

Color grading, on the other hand, is a creative process that is not always necessary for every project. If you have specific visual style or mood in mind for your video, or if you want to create a consistent look and feel throughout your project, then color grading can help you achieve those goals.

In general, if your footage looks good and you don't have any major issues with the colors or tones, you may not need to spend a lot of time on color correction or color grading. However, if you want to improve the overall quality and visual impact of your video, then it is worth considering both color correction and color grading as part of your post-production process.

Sound Shaping
Our second exercise for this project is to shape audio that is given by Mr. Martin. We had to shape 3 audios into 4 different sound effects, such as:
  • Underground cave SFX
  • Toilet/bathroom SFX
  • The voice coming from closet SFX
  • Telephone SFX

For The process, I was using reverb, echo ( cave and bathroom ), and distortion ( only for telephone) in Adobe audition

REFLECTIONS

This Project and exercise were fun and really I found a new thing like how to dub, i have an experience in using premiere pro but not that much and hopefully this exercise and project can help me more in the future
